The parents of an emotionally disturbed student filed a federal civil rights lawsuit Tuesday seeking to overturn a hearing officer's decision on how much extra instruction and counseling the North Hills School District has to provide their daughter.

The Riverbend board in May, however, voted to forego geriatric counseling to the half dozen nursing homes in Colbert and Lauderdale counties.
